Trophies

I am a coach for Scholastic Bowl(Academic Team) at the school where I work. I have done this for 7 years. This year, the Varsity is what I like to call "my dream team"...it is the first team I tried out as Freshman and picked and turned out....I may not ever qualify to play the game....... but I DO know how to pick the people that can. True, I am the Frosh/Soph coach but they start with me and then move up to Varsity when they are Juniors. Yesterday was my birthday and we had games all day.

My kids(Varsity and Frosh/Soph) got me a birthday cake with our emblem on it(the photo aboe is the back of my shirt)....and me without my camera. It only occurred to me later that I could've used my cell phone camera....duh.The good news is that Varsity and Frosh/Soph are currently in First place in our league (consisting of 10 schools) and Frosh/Soph went undefeated yesterday......a very satisfying day....even if I did turn the speed limit (55 for those of you that are thinking some OTHER speed limit!!)

Well done Neva
Well done to the young opnes s well...
You asked about why my Land Rover engine doe not cut out in the mud and water.... firstly it helps being a diesel engine, and the air intake is right up at the top of the engine... I can safely get as deep as the head lights before I notice any spluttering with the engine. I have never stalled it because of the water or mub. It really is a fun day out driving, and it helps to know the capabilities of your vehical... I hope that answers your question... If we lived near Jane and I would take you out driving.

Bravo!! The trophy looks enormously big ... or did you "cheat" with the photo?

While I love sports, I am always so glad to see programs like this become popular and supported by dedicated adults. Good for you and happy 55.

Happy Birthday, a bit belated!
And I am assuming that the sport in question is bowling? Or some other sport?

A belated happy birthday, Neva! And congratulations to your team! You have every right to feel proud of them and your hand in their success.

I am finding you and I have more and more in common--I was the JV scholastic bowl coach at our school for several years, too! I had several different extracurricular assignments over the years, but this was definitely one of my favorites. I gave it up only because my daughters were younger at the time and involved in sports activities that conflicted with the meets.
