She is pretty old, moves slowly, loves the snow-still, hears poorly, sees shortly, tolerates Clancy barely but she is still the same sweet puppy we brought home all those years ago. Happy Birthday Tessie!

How great, 12 years of happy memories. I think older dogs develop selecting hearing though instead of hearing loss. I've had dogs that couldn't hear me calling them, but heard cheese drop on the floor a room a way.

My son's chocolate lab is 12 also. She is quite arthritic. She comes to play at the camp on the river chasing sticks and driving in all day as if she is a puppy, only to suffer pain for three or for days when she goes home. It will be a sad day when she will have to be put down.
