Good Friends are hard to find...or not!

Flo is my 92 year old friend. Not only is she my friend, she has been my bridge partner and she is my neighbor. Her daughter and I are VERY good friends. She has recently been in a Senior living community while she fights off an infection. She has been here a few weeks and I have had lunch with her almost everyday. Today, the staff gave her and another resident a mini party as they both are going home this week. It was really sweet. She was so happy that they thought of her. I was glad to be there to celebrate with her. Here are some photos of the celebration.

It's not easy to get old... and we get older and older. Much better if there is somone around, like you!

How great that there is a place like this for her to recover and have people around to distract. And how great to have you.

I always give you big marks that you go that extra distance to eat lunch and check on your friend at the "what's it called now...nursing home, assisted living...?"

This blog makes me think of a wonderful book called "If I Live to Be 100" by Neenah Ellis. (Ellis produced a series on centenarians for NPR in the early 2000s.) She interviewed numerous centenarians, and asked them what they'd like to share most about their age and their experiences. I highly recommend it, and it's relatively short. It's too good to miss.
